In 1865, Saint John Bosco dreamed of a tall, black-skinned, horned man holding a "magic lantern" with which he entertained young people.
Through this "magic lantern," the young people could see entertaining things, soccer matches they had missed, distant towns, books, family members, friends, past vacations, money owed to them, and even "sinful scenes," among other things.
Don Bosco recounted that this device entertained them so much that it drew these young people away from the sacraments, especially confession and Holy Communion.
This text is well-documented and available for anyone wishing to read it in G. B. Lemoyne, *Memorie Biografiche di San Giovanni Bosco*, Vol. VIII, p. 110.
