Prayer to the Virgin Mary
O Mary, Mother of Jesus and our Mother, we turn to you on this day, for it was you who said "YES" to life. "You will conceive and give birth to a son," said the angel. Despite the surprise and uncertainty this would cause you, you said "YES." "Let it be done to me according to your word."
Holy Mary, we pray today for all mothers who are afraid to become mothers. We pray for all those who feel threatened and overwhelmed by their pregnancies. Intercede for them, that God may grant them the grace to say "yes" and the courage to carry their pregnancies to term. May they receive the grace to reject the false solution of abortion. May they be able to say, like you, "Let it be done to me according to your word." May they experience and feel the support of all Christians and know that peace comes from doing God's will.
Amen.
Happy Mother's Day (May 10th)!

IMPORTANT MEDICAL TESTIMONY (Don't miss it).
By: Dr. Sergio Villarreal
In recent months, I've read some arguments on social media regarding unborn babies that I want to address. I've read that they are just cells. I've read that they are not human beings. I've read that they are not living beings. I've read that they are not beings with consciousness. And I've read that, because of all of the above, these cells have no rights that we should respect. In response to all of this, I want to share my testimony:
I have been a gynecologist for 30 years. Since 1988, I have seen many women who have placed their trust in me. I have cared for them during their pregnancies. I have delivered their children. Many of the babies I delivered have grown up and are now parents, and in some cases, I have delivered their own children.
Throughout these years, I have performed ultrasounds on many patients very early in their pregnancies as part of the medical care I provide them. But along the way, I've witnessed many other things that go beyond mere medical observation, and I want to share them with you:
I've seen babies' hearts beat very early on, strongly, so strongly that it's not uncommon to see the heartbeat before the baby itself.
I've seen them at 7 weeks old take little hops on their backs.
I've seen them at 9 weeks old move their arms and legs, move their whole bodies, somersault, jump and hop, turn to face forward and see their faces, turn to the side, open their mouths, and make so many gestures so common and familiar to any human being.
I've seen them fully formed, with brains and hearts, with eyes, ears, and mouths. I've seen them with hands and feet, with fluid inside their stomachs, with urine in their bladders. I've seen the chambers of their hearts pumping blood throughout their bodies. I've seen them touch each other with their hands, bend their knees, extend them, and stretch out as if they were on a swing.
I've watched them grow inside the womb, I've seen them yawn, and I've seen them hiccup. I've seen their respiratory muscles move. I've seen them clench their fists, and I've seen them move their eyes. Waiting for the moment of birth.
And there, seeing them inside the womb, I've been able to recognize that they are more than just cells; I've recognized a living being, with its own physiology, its own structure. I've seen a human being. I've seen a being of my species, only younger than me, a being that is a continuum in time with the being it will become in the future. A being that is not only potential, but is already a reality there in its mother's womb, just like the young child who, although potential for the future, is already a reality in its present childhood. True, it's not a human being conscious of its surroundings, just as a newborn isn't, or a child who is only a few days or weeks old, or an elderly person who has lost some of their cognitive functions. But it is a human being, just like them, simply a human being.
I have seen those embryos become fetuses, and those fetuses be born, and I have seen them later come with their parents, as children, to my office, to witness the miracle of having one, two, or more siblings. And I have seen them grow up to become good men and women. And I have seen them, in turn, become mothers and fathers who love the life they were given and the life they now give.
I have seen many parents cry tears of joy upon seeing their child for the first time on a screen, and I have seen them immensely happy when their child is born. And many times I have heard them describe how that baby has changed their lives, and how they are now willing to give their lives for the love of their little one. This is not rhetoric. Any parent knows it, any mother understands it. Willing to die for the love of their baby.
And I've seen cases of women who suddenly found themselves facing an unexpected reality: an unplanned pregnancy, a baby they never thought would come their way. Sometimes they were alone, and all the braver for being alone. But when they've become aware of the profound significance of their experience and have accepted the arrival of their baby, and have continued under my care, I haven't seen a single woman regret giving life. I haven't seen one who, after a few years, doesn't see her son or daughter as the most precious thing in her life. Never, never have I heard one say, "I would have preferred not to have it."
After giving this testimony, I only hope that those who think differently do so out of ignorance, or perhaps due to a lack of information.
Don't argue that they are just cells, don't argue that it's not a living being, don't argue that it's not a human being or that it doesn't have consciousness. Don't insult your own intelligence with those arguments, which are so false and empty that it's incredible that a human being with a conscience would even take them into account.

A HUMAN BEING CAN ONLY CONCEIVE ANOTHER HUMAN BEING AND NOT A SIMPLY BLUNCH OF CELLS
One month after conception, a human being is one-sixth of an inch long. The tiny heart has already begun beating for a week, and the arms, legs, head, and brain have already begun to take shape. At two months, the child already fits in a nutshell: curled up, the person measures little more than an inch. Inside your closed fist, the person would be invisible, and you could squash them without intending to, or even realizing it. But if you open your hand, the person is practically complete, with hands, feet, head, internal organs, brain, all in place. All they need is to grow. Looking even more closely with a standard microscope, you may be able to see their fingerprints. Everything needed to establish their identity is already in place.

THE RIGHT TO KILL: BETWEEN THE CANNULA, THE HANDKERCHIEF, AND THE DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS
I. HELL, EUPHEMISMS, AND THE PROFANE LITURGY OF THE SELF
Abortion is a crime. There is no possible mitigating factor, no context that dignifies it, no rhetoric that softens it. It is, in itself, an act of absolute injustice: the deliberate destruction of the most innocent, the most defenseless, the most irreplaceable. Its malice needs no adjectives to be monstrous. The fact is enough.
But as if death were not enough, modern culture has added mockery. Today, children are killed not only in the shadows, but under the spotlight; not with tears, but with applause; not in secret, but as a spectacle. What was once hidden as a sin is today celebrated as a right. And this is not just an added aberration: it is a consecration of crime, a profane liturgy of the self, a godless religion whose dogma is absolute autonomy and whose altar is the desecrated womb.
Every time an innocent person is sacrificed in the name of "reproductive freedom," a systematic denial of the natural order, a subversion of law, and a blasphemy against divine law are perpetrated. What they call "voluntary termination of pregnancy" is not merely the extirpation of a child: it is the solemn affirmation that the self has become god, that good and evil can be defined by decree, that killing can be an act of justice.
II. THE INVERSION OF LANGUAGE: FROM CRIME TO LAW
The spiritual war of our time is waged in the realm of language. It is not enough to commit evil: it must be rebranded. Thus, abortion becomes not only a “right,” but a “conquest,” an “act of love,” a “form of social justice.” Every word has been carefully twisted so that hell is spoken in tones of sweetness.
But the Angelic Doctor teaches that veritas est adaequatio rei et intellectus—truth is the conformity between the thing and the intellect. When language is dissociated from reality, it is also dissociated from truth. Calling murder “intervention” does not make it any less homicide; proclaiming it “progress” does not make it any less sinful. This is the language of the father of lies, who promised freedom in Paradise and delivered death.
III. LEGALITY AS A MASK OF INJUSTICE: THE STATE AS PRIEST OF THE NEW RELIGION
Human law, when it deviates from eternal and natural law, ceases to be law and becomes a corruption of it. The modern State, once instituted to safeguard justice, has embraced legal apostasy: it not only tolerates abortion, it promotes it; it not only permits it, it finances it; it not only decriminalizes it, it turns it into a symbol of civilization.
Thus, the legal apparatus becomes an instrument of death. And, as the traditional Magisterium taught, lex iniusta non est lex—an unjust law does not oblige, but oppresses. The legal order that protects death and persecutes life has reversed its purpose: it no longer protects the innocent, but rather the executioner.
IV. THE WOMAN'S BODY AS AN IDEOLOGICAL BATTLEFIELD
Modern feminism has replaced the dogma of love with the dogma of revenge. The maternal womb, which was supposed to be a sanctuary, has become a trench; motherhood, which was supposed to be a gift, has become slavery; life, which was supposed to be welcomed, has become the enemy. The female body has been recruited as a battlefield by an ideology that does not seek to elevate women, but to strip them of their essence.
Women are not liberated when they reject life; they are disfigured. The devil does not hate women's freedom: he hates their capacity to give life. Therefore, abortion is not only an act against the child: it is a rebellion against motherhood itself. It is the Luciferian cry: non serviam.
V. THE VOICELESS VICTIM: THE UNBORN AND THE OMISSION OF THE JUST
The unborn child is the most perfect icon of the innocent Christ: it has no power, no voice, no defense. And yet, its death is celebrated as if it were a victory. Modern culture not only condones crime: it proclaims it as a virtue.
And where are the just? Where are the parents, the teachers, the legislators, the doctors, the clergy? Where are those who should have raised their voices in defense of the least of these? They remain silent. Because speaking out would cost them prestige, security, or comfort. Yet history, in its ebb and flow, sometimes shows glimpses of heroism: amidst moral decay, there are still those who, with a simple guideline or "blank" of intentions, dare to defend the life of the unborn, bearing witness that political prudence, when upright, can be a bulwark against tyranny.
But silence in the face of injustice is complicity with evil. It is better to die with the Truth than to live with a lie.
VI. NATURE'S REVENGE: SPIRITUAL SCARS
Abortion does not end when the child's heartbeat ceases. The mother's soul—created to love, not to destroy—is scarred. Although ideology claims to have "made a free choice," nature cries out. Empty wombs cry. Cribs never purchased cry out. Nightmares do not cease. Guilt is not erased with pills.
Not only is a body destroyed: a spirit is wounded. Not only is a life extinguished: a conscience is fractured. Not only is the child suppressed: motherhood is obscured.
VII. THE CATHOLIC RESPONSE: LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS
Political arguments are not enough. Medical statistics are not enough. Awareness campaigns are not enough. Against this vital heresy, there is only one sufficient response: the full Gospel, natural law proclaimed clearly, Catholic doctrine lived faithfully.
It is necessary for the eternal truth to shine again: that life is sacred, that a child is not an enemy, that motherhood is a gift, that crime can never be a right. The answer will not come from enlightened elites or international NGOs: it will come from humble souls who have kept the faith, from courageous lay people, from faithful confessors, from the apostles of the Sacred Heart, who still dare to call sin sin and grace grace.
EPILOGUE: JUDGMENT DAY AND THE SENTENCE THAT MATTERS
The day will come when the innocent will look down on us from eternity. They will not ask what laws were passed, what marches we organized, what editorials we signed. They will ask something simpler and more terrible: "Where were you when they were killing us?"
And if our silence was complicit, if our lukewarmness was a disguise for prudence, if our inaction was more convenient than our fidelity... then we will be unable to respond.
History will judge abortion as it judges slavery today. But beyond history, the Just Judge will call for an account. And then, only those who have defended life with words, prayer, and sacrifice will be found worthy.

THE SILENT CRY: A STORY OF PAIN AND HOPE
The early morning wrapped the hospital in a heavy silence as Clara arrived, feeling that each step pulled her deeper into an abyss of uncertainty. She had thought that making a decision would quiet the storm inside her, but with every heartbeat, her doubts only grew stronger.
Was she really going to do this?
The voices around her were deafening. Her boyfriend, indifferent, had told her, “Do whatever you think is best.” Her friends insisted it was her right. Her mother, in a stern tone, reminded her, “A child now will ruin your plans.” Everywhere she turned, the message was clear: “It’s nothing. It’s your body, your choice.”
Yet deep inside, another voice whispered otherwise. If it was really nothing, why did she feel that tight knot in her stomach?
She hugged herself, trying to stop the trembling that ran through her. The hospital corridor seemed to close in on her, and panic began to set in. What if what she was carrying was a real life?
She tried to dismiss the thought, repeating what others had told her: that it was just a cluster of cells, that there was no consciousness, that it didn’t matter. But then she remembered something she had read somewhere:
• The heart begins to beat around the third week of pregnancy.
• Brain activity can be detected by the sixth week.
• By the twelfth week, the fetus can respond to stimuli.
If a fetus could respond, how could it be “nothing”?
She pressed her forehead against the cold wall, searching for clarity. She couldn’t think straight. Every argument clashed against her fear, her shame, and the desperation of not knowing what to do.
“You’re not ready,” an inner voice told her. “This will ruin your life. You don’t have the resources or support. How will you raise a child when you can barely handle yourself?”
But another, softer voice whispered, “If inside you there is a beating heart, a functioning brain, a being with unique DNA… do you really have the right to decide its fate?”
She swallowed hard, feeling the weight on her chest. What if she was about to make an irreversible mistake?
Her fear began to change. It was no longer just fear of having the baby, but fear of what would happen if she didn’t.
A nurse approached with a clipboard in her hands.
— “Clara González. It’s your turn.”
She looked at her, frozen. Every part of her was screaming for her to stand up, to run, to protect the life inside her. But fear kept her glued to her seat.
Then, almost instinctively, her hands moved to her belly. And in that moment, an image from her childhood surfaced: the Virgin Mary, draped in her blue mantle, carrying the Savior in her womb.
If Mary had seen her pregnancy as an obstacle, if she had given in to fear… what would have become of us?
The thought struck her deeply. If the Son of God came into the world through a woman, how could she reject the gift that had been entrusted to her?
A shiver ran through her, and for the first time in a long time, she felt a comforting presence.
She was not alone. She had never been alone.
In a whisper, her lips formed the words her heart understood before her mind did:
“Mater Dei, ora pro nobis.”
The fear began to fade, replaced by a newfound strength she had never known.
She stood up, leaving behind the shadows of despair. She walked out of the hospital, and outside, the dawn painted the sky with golden hues, as if creation itself was celebrating her choice.
She had chosen life.
Though the future remained uncertain, she knew one thing for sure: she had embraced God’s plan.
And in that womb that had almost been denied, in that sacred place where God had placed an immortal soul, a new light continued to beat. A heartbeat that echoed eternal love, belonging not only to her but to the Creator who had conceived it from all eternity.

THE IDEOLOGICAL ROOTS OF ABORTION
Abortion, as we know it today, is not merely the result of contemporary political or social decisions, but rather it is deeply rooted in a series of philosophical and ideological transformations that have eroded the traditional view of human life. To understand abortion in its most profound dimension, we must analyze the ideologies that have made it possible. These include nomalism, protestantism, liberalism, modernism, legal positivism, and other philosophical errors that have undermined the dignity of the human being, both in the natural order and in the transcendent order.
NOMINALISM: THE FRAGMENTATION OF THE HUMAN BEING
Nominalism was the first step in the dissolution of the unitary vision of the human being. By denying the existence of universals, nominalism fragmented reality and denied the possibility of an intrinsic value to human life. Álvaro d’Ors highlighted how this break with objective reality opened the doors to a relativistic view of the human being, where life was no longer seen as sacred, but as an object of decision and manipulation.
PROTESTANTISM: THE FRAGMENTATION OF MORAL AUTHORITY
Protestantism exacerbated this fragmentation by rejecting the unique authority of the Church and promoting a subjective interpretation of morality. Rafael Gambra points out that the Protestant break allowed each individual to become the ultimate judge of what is right or wrong, facilitating the acceptance of decisions like abortion under the pretext of personal autonomy.
LIBERALISM: THE RADICAL AUTONOMY OF THE INDIVIDUAL
Liberalism, with its emphasis on individual autonomy, took this fragmentation even further. Danilo Castellano warns that liberalism detaches freedom from any reference to truth or the common good, thereby justifying abortion as an individual “right.” This approach becomes the foundation for the legalization of abortion by placing personal freedom above any consideration of the unborn child’s life.
MODERNISM: THE DENIAL OF NATURAL LAW
Modernism radicalized this dissolution even further by affirming that morality and truth are historical constructs subject to change. Miguel Ayuso observes that, under this ideology, abortion is normalized as a “natural” evolution of society, stripping human life of its immutable and sacred character.
LEGAL POSITIVISM: THE SEPARATION OF LAW AND MORALITY
Legal positivism completed this disassociation, allowing abortion to be legalized without reference to moral considerations. Álvaro d’Ors and Rafael Gambra emphasize that positivism turns law into a mere technical instrument, where human life can be sacrificed according to social consensus, without acknowledging its inherent value.
MATERIALISM AND UTILITARIANISM: THE DEGRADATION OF THE HUMAN BEING
Materialism, both in its dialectical form and in its practical approach, has contributed to the devaluation of human life, reducing it to a mere biological product whose value depends on its utility. Rafael Gambra explains that materialism erodes the notion of human dignity, justifying abortion as a means of optimizing social convenience.
Utilitarianism, in turn, has been one of the main philosophical currents that has subordinated human dignity to criteria of utility, welfare, or suffering. In its logic, the value of human life is measured by its capacity to maximize welfare or minimize suffering. Under this approach, abortion is justified when it is believed that bringing an unwanted child into the world or in difficult conditions would cause more pain than pleasure for the mother, family, or even society.
This approach completely dehumanizes the human being by reducing him to an object of calculation. Utilitarianism does not concern itself with the inviolability of life, but with the effects that this life could have on others. In this way, the sacrifice of innocent life is seen as a lesser evil in pursuit of the “greater good,” which is none other than maximizing the happiness of those who decide.
The consequences of this view are devastating. By justifying abortion based on utility, a culture is created in which the value of human life is conditioned by external and subjective circumstances. The life of the unborn becomes contingent, something that can be eliminated if it does not meet certain welfare or convenience criteria. This approach not only erodes human dignity but also undermines the fundamental principle that all life has intrinsic value, regardless of the circumstances in which it develops.
SOCIAL DARWINISM: ABORTION AS SELECTION
Social Darwinism has been another important factor in justifying abortion. This ideology, which sees human life as part of a natural selection process, justifies the elimination of “undesirable” or “weak” individuals in the name of progress. Álvaro d’Ors criticizes this dehumanizing view, which reduces human life to a matter of survival and utility.
CONCLUSION: THE RUPTURE WITH NATURAL ORDER AND THE DIVINE PLAN
Abortion is not just a manifestation of a moral crisis in the natural order but a far deeper fracture in the transcendent order. Each innocent life destroyed not only reflects the collapse of a civilization that has renounced the truth, but also an act of rebellion against the divine plan that endows human life with its sacred and inalienable character. In its desire to become master and lord of creation, humanity has usurped a role that belongs exclusively to God.
The acceptance of abortion is the denial of human dignity both in the natural and spiritual order. It is a profound wound in the soul of humanity, a rejection of the mystery of life and the creative love of God. By interrupting a life, humanity not only destroys a body but also breaks a chain of love that transcends time and space.
Abortion is the gravest sin against creation, a denial of the divine purpose inscribed in every human life. We are facing the worst of crimes, because it is not only an attack on who we are on earth but also on what we are called to be in eternity. Abortion is the manifestation of a humanity that has forgotten its place in the cosmos, that has reneged on its covenant with God.
There is an urgent need for a return to God, a reconnection with the transcendent order that grants us our true dignity. Human life is a sacred gift, and only by recognizing this truth can we begin to heal the wounds we have opened in the heart of our civilization. In defending life, we defend not only our humanity but also our relationship with the Creator. For in every life we defend, we are preserving the divine plan and protecting the most precious gift we have been given: life itself.

THE BEAUTY OF HUMAN LIFE
She is Anabelle Raelynne Danison, she passed away at 8 weeks gestation due to natural causes and her parents wanted to show the beauty of intrauterine human life. At this age, many babies already lose their lives due to abortion.
At 8 weeks the baby already has the eyelids, the nose and the upper lip formed. It already has a heartbeat. The body measures between 12 and 17 mm. Through the translucent skin you can see the skeleton which is currently made up of cartilage. The liver is also fully functional.
From this moment the baby feeds exclusively through the umbilical cord. The wonder of the human being…

FIGHT UNFAIR LAWS
Today (June 24, 2022) is a day of grace. Not only Roe vs. Wade was overturned on the day of the Sacred Heart, but also on the day of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist, who recognized the presence of the Lord since He was in the womb. As Elizabeth said: " The moment that the sound of thy greeting came to my ears, the babe in my womb leapt for joy. " (Lk 1; 44).
This is an example for countries like Argentina and wherever abortion has been approved. That a law exists does not mean that it is a just law; and not only that: we must fight it until it is eradicated forever. Abortion, no matter how lawful it is on paper, is always murder and cannot be approved in any case.
I always encourage mothers who have had an abortion and have repented of their sin to trust in the mercy of God who can always forgive us no matter how great our faults. If a woman had an abortion and repented, may she know that God's mercy endures forever and that Jesus Christ asks her to fight for the defense of human life from conception to death from now on. But there is no sin that God cannot forgive, however great it may be.
May today be remembered as a clear message from God: YOU CAN FIGHT UNFAIR LAWS LIKE THE ABORTION LAW, because the Lord does what He wants, and no one mocks the Lord. Although everything seems lost in our countries, let us never lose hope. Here in the United States, it took 49 years to overturn this unjust law. Now the different states will be able to freely decide what to do, and there are 26 states that are aiming at the absolute elimination of abortion. It is a miracle, but we should not be surprised, since God is the one who decides, not the politicians or the powerful (although it seems otherwise, God is and will be the one who moves the threads of history).
"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For his mercy endures forever" (Ps 136; 1).

OKLAHOMA PASSES THE MOST RESTRICTIVE ABORTION LAW IN THE UNITED STATES, FROM THE MOMENTO OF CONCEPTION
InfoCatolica. May 20, 2022. As reported by The New York Times, the Oklahoma legislature gave final approval on Thursday to a bill banning nearly all abortions from conception, making it the nation’s strictest abortion law.
(NYT/InfoCatólica) The bill allows individuals to sue abortion providers and anyone who “helps or encourages” an abortion. It would take effect immediately when signed by Governor Kevin Stitt, a Republican who has pledged to make Oklahoma the most anti-abortion state in the country.
“There can be nothing higher or more critical than defending innocent, unborn life,” State Representative Jim Olsen, a Republican, said Thursday on the floor of the Oklahoma House, where the bill passed by 73-16 votes.
The measure is modeled on a law that went into effect in Texas in September that banned abortion after about six weeks and relied on civil rather than criminal enforcement to evade legal challenges. Because of that provision — the law explicitly says state authorities can’t bring charges — the U.S. Supreme Court and state courts have said they can’t block the ban, even if it violates the constitutional right to abortion enshrined in Roe v. wade.
The Oklahoma ban goes beyond Texas law, which prohibits abortion after about six weeks of pregnancy. The bill defines an unborn child as “a human fetus or embryo at any stage of pregnancy from conception to birth.” Anti-abortion groups, which believe abortion is murder, have tried unsuccessfully since the 1973 Roe decision to pass federal or state legislation defining life as beginning at conception.
Thursday’s vote was the latest move by the Republican-led Oklahoma legislature, in conjunction with Mr. Stitt, to scrap abortion rights until the procedure is almost completely banned. Together, they have placed their state at the head of the pack of Republican-led states rushing to pass laws restricting or banning abortion in the expectation that the Supreme Court will soon overthrow Roe. A leaked draft opinion written by Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr. — along with oral arguments in the present case, regarding a Mississippi law prohibiting the procedure beyond 15 weeks of pregnancy — indicated the court was willing to do so.
In Oklahoma, multiple Democrats in the State House begged their colleagues not to pass the bill on Thursday. Several urged Oklahoma to focus more on financing family planning services, or improving the lives of young Oklahomans living in poverty.
The bill makes exceptions for rape and incest cases, but only if those crimes have been reported to the police.
Panic Among Abortion Entrepreneurs
Opponents of abortion increasingly rely on civil enforcement to achieve long-standing goals. Even in the absence of lawsuits against abortion providers, civil enforcement laws have left a chilling effect on abortion providers and distributors of abortion pills who stop working for fear of prosecution.
“This is not a fire drill,” said Emily Wales, the president and chief executive of Planned Parenthood Great Plains, which has operations in Oklahoma. “This is not a rehearsal for what is to come. We now live in this real world. The Supreme Court will make that final this summer.”
Other states have tried to ban abortion during pregnancy but have been held back by court order because the Roe decision states that states cannot ban abortion before viability, or about 24 weeks. States, including Mississippi, have attempted voting initiatives that define fetuses as persons, leading abortion to murder, but have failed.
No state currently prohibits abortion after conception. Oklahoma law attempts to do this by using a legal tactic that the courts have allowed: civil enforcement.
If signed by the governor, the Oklahoma law would cut off another option for Texas women flooded across the state line to seek legal action, and it aims to punish even those out of state who assist Oklahoma women in getting abortions.
In 2017, the last year for which statistics were available, there were 4,780 abortions in Oklahoma, according to the Guttmacher Institute, which supports abortion rights. As in most states, the number of abortions in Oklahoma had fallen. But Texas law resulted in an influx of women entering Oklahoma to have abortions. Planned Parenthood said its Oklahoma health centers saw the number of patients from Texas increase by 2,500 percent in the first three months of the law.
Oklahoma already has a trigger ban that would immediately ban abortion if the court overturns Roe, as well as an abortion ban that has been on the books since the Roe decision. Two weeks ago, just after Alito’s draft advice was leaked, Mr. Stitt issued a six-week ban that was closely modeled on Texas law. The previous month, he had signed a law that will come into effect at the end of August banning abortion completely except to save the mother’s life. That ban imposes criminal penalties on abortion providers.
The latest bill in Oklahoma was denounced by the Biden administration as the most extreme example of lawmakers overturning the right to abortion.
